The Lake County Health Department supports the current CDC and Indiana Department of Health COVID control guidelines. We strongly recommend that all schools follow the masking, contact tracing and quarantining practices described in the guidelines.
Free COVID-19 testing at Polk Elementary School in Lake Station each Tuesday though Saturday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
The Lake County Health Department has been receiving complaints from parents of children attending schools within our jurisdiction concerning the quarantining of unmasked close contact children who have been exposed to children infected with the COVID virus.
The Federal Government has provided Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (“Recovery Funds”) through the American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) to provide relief to local governmental units as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The U.S. Treasury Department (the “Treasury Department”) awarded Lake County, Indiana (the “County”) $94,301,324 in Recovery Funds (revised 5/18/2022)
The County will hold a second and final, Public Hearing on the 2022 Annual Action Plan on Friday, July 22nd, 2022. All residents of Urban Lake County are invited to attend and comment on the Plan. The hearing will be at 4:00 P.M. in the Lake County Community Development office (3rd Floor, RM A310), Lake County Government Center, 2293 North Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307.
